12 December 2011: We’ve been eyeing this for quite a while, the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer. But it wasn’t till now that we really picked it up to test it out. We bought one in the end, and Blake loves it! It’s definitely one of our best gadgets buy :D

9 December 2011: Brought Blake to KFC, and he was bored. Took out my phone and turned on my camera. Switched it to secondary camera mode so that Blake could see himself on the phone. His reaction, “WAH!!” Hehe.

23 October 2011: Blake walking home through the park connector near our place, after dinner.

23 October 2011: Blake woke up earlier than expected, and we were both still very tired so we let Blake have his breakfast in our bed, while we continued to sleep. Haha.

19 October 2011: Blake took his first step at 12+ months old, going 13 months old, and he continued to take only 1-2 steps before sitting back down again. And it wasn’t until now that he took more than 2 steps! He really walked! We were at Changi Airport when it happened. There were a few old aunties and uncles around who were cheering Blake on when they saw him taking his first walk (this was after I finished filming). Yes, this crazy mommy was trying to keep everything quiet during the filming, but my smile was enormously huge! Haha. After the recording stopped, I squealed with joy! :D

22 September 2011: Blake went for a surgery about 2 weeks after celebrating his first birthday. The surgery had something to do with his left testicle, so it was a rather sensitive area. We went to the hospital, praying for the best, but not expecting things to be in our good favor. I was even prepared to bring Blake for a second surgery when he turn 10 years old. But as it turns out, the result of the operation brought great news to us! Everything went successfully, and there will be no need for a second surgery. And the most important of all, we don’t have to worry for Blake in terms of self-esteem and emotional confidence :D

Blake’s First Birthday

For Blake’s first birthday, we decided to hold the celebrations at a bungalow at National Service Resort and Country Club (NSRCC), very awesomely sponsored by my dad, might I add :) It was also a chance for us, as a little family, to have a mini getaway.

9 September 2011: The day we checked in. My dad drove us down and left after we have settled and found a little corner for Blake to do his own little thing.

It’s actually made up of 2 sofa seats, with the cushions removed, firmly wedged between the glass panels, the bigger sofa seat, and a super heavy coffee table. Hehe.

After which, I took Blake out for a stroll in the area before heading for lunch. The cafe at the golf area was simply marvelous! Great food and great service! :)

Then I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get Blake to sleep, while waiting for Sean to join us after work!

Once Sean reached the bungalow, we headed out for dinner, and walked around the vicinity further to check out if we missed anything. It has been a really long time since we last came here!

After taking some photos, we headed back to the bungalow. We had a mini celebration for Blake’s first birthday, seeing that 9th was his actual date of birth, with cupcakes from Twelve Cupcakes!

I had bought them the day before, but some of them got smooshed when my dad carried it together with all the other items we packed :(

Thankfully, there were three that survived it! But one melted a little too much after microwaving, so we were down to two for photo taking. Still taste awesome though! :D

Watched more TV while Blake played in his corner and then, it was lights out!

10 September 2011: The day of his birthday celebration! I woke up early to receive the Mcdonald’s breakfast I had ordered in advance before heading home to feed our pets. Then I met up with my dad. He drove me to Aunty Yochana’s where we collected Blake’s birthday cake, and he drove me back to NSRCC. I know, I have a super awesome dad :)

While I was out the birthday boy had diarrhea, and Sean was busied the whole morning trying to calm him down and make him comfortable. Sean took him out for a morning walk (while I was out and about), and he calmed down. It’s always good to have a super hands-on dad for a husband. Hehe.

When I got back, things were calmed and I started preparing the place for the party that night.

Sean also started work on the BBQ pit, cooking all the food before guests arrive, so that he will have enough time to wash up.

When guests started to arrive, the birthday boy fell asleep, and woke up just in time to cut the cake! Haha.

The night ended with a walk around the vicinity with lighted lanterns, which I brought along. It was close to the Lantern Festival then. Hehe.

11 September 2011: The day we check-out. Packed everything the night before and sleep till it was just about time to check-out. Haha. We were all so tired! After checking out, we went back to the cafe at the golf side and had a delicious branch before heading home!

All in all, it was a great birthday celebration. So thankful for all the people who came down to celebrate with us, and all the beautiful gifts given to Blake! :D

29 August 2011: After our visit to Singapore Philatelic Museum, we went for lunch at Pasta Mania before going over to the Peranakan Museum. We didn’t spend a lot of time there cos by the time we got there, we only had 1-2 hours to walk around before they closed. Yup, we were cutting it really close! When we left, we had to be escorted out a different route, cos some of the exits were closed already. Haha.

Hopefully, this August, there will be free entry to the museums for a whole month again, and we can visit the museums we missed out last August! (I know, so cheapskate, right? Haha!)

29 August 2011: Trip to the Singapore Philatelic Museum! Blake loved it here! The only trouble we had was the stairs. We had to carry his stroller up and down a very narrow staircase cos they didn’t have a lift. Thankfully, it wasn’t that crowded and we managed to go and up without injuring anyone in the process. They had tons of exhibitions involving rabbits too! It was the year of the Rabbits (according to the Zodiac) I loved it! Hehe.
